Hello out there!
It's Friday and if you work a 9 to 5 then I know you're happy. So cheers to the weekend!
Last Saturday I went to see Martin Lawrence in concert. It was totally last minute and I went with my brother, my new sister in law, my sister, and my brother's friend and his date. I got a ticket almost at the 11th hour so I had the pleasure of sitting all by myself surrounded by strangers. But that didn't bother me one bit. I still enjoyed the show.
This is how I wore my hair, a simple wash n go Afro. I should have taken a picture of the shoes. Honey, those shoes were fabulous. But hey self photography is hard.
I kinda felt like an Afro was in store for this night because I was feeling relaxed and very summer-like in my dress. The shoes added a bit of an edge to the style and I was out the door.
Lately I've been hitting the town about once a week and was feeling like I just HAD to do something "different" to my hair to switch things up. Lo and behold I decided to keep it simple for the concert and I received more compliments on my hair that night than I did all summer.
Then I started thinking after I saw a post on FB (that means facebook) about style boredom. Unfortunately the post was all too familiar from a fellow natural with thick gorgeous hair. Her status said she was thinking of going back to the relaxer because she's bored. I see that ALL THE TIME! Of course I had to stick my nose in and offer whatever small words of encouragement that I could.
I'm told that I look different EVERY week. People who see me over and over can walk right past BiancaFace and not know it's me until I speak. I think this is comical because I really only wear my hair in a few different ways. Yet, some folks swear I'm a style chameleon. See picture above of a twist out that I literally do about twice a year. (no exaggeration)

The puff
I can say that I do the puff, the wash n go Afro, bantu knot outs, twists, and my signature fro hawk. Those are pretty much my styles. Wow, listing them out like that makes it seem like a lot to me lol! Occasionally I whip out something that takes more effort than the ones I just listed. But my two cents is DON'T EXPECT YOUR HAIR TO TAP DANCE! If you're feeling bored, why are you feeling that way?
Take a look back at your straight hair and look at all the different ways you wore your hair. Did it really look different all the time? I bet you just had a variation on the same style which probably meant bangs, or no bangs. This isn't just for my FB friend, this goes for anyone out there reading this who feels bored with your natural hair.
I can't really speak about weave because I assume you really can change that EVERY WEEK if you so choose. So what's your point BiancaFace? My point is, I think you'll be much happier with yourself and your hair if you just keep it simple. I'm very content. I have to admit that in the shorter stages I couldn't wait to get to the length I am now.
The options will be endless, I thought to myself. I'll have all these wonderful styles I can create. The truth is, I really don't style my hair into a frenzy. I don't like fussing with my hair and manipulating it to death. Yes there are many many options for styling my Afro textured hair but I'm not making it my mission to do them all.
Relax and just let it be!

Good Morning Beautiful People!
Today I want you to focus on the moment and be grateful for where you are right now. Take it all in and be glad about it! As I type this there will never be another August 12th 2011 @8:03a.m. I'm happy to be in this moment right now.
Speaking of moments, I'm sure to have a few good ones this weekend and like many "natural" haired ladies I love to plan my styles in advance. A few weeks ago I went to a friend's birthday party and I wanted to do something different with my hair. So I had this style vision and I needed my mom to help me accomplish it since I don't know how to do cornrows.
My vision was cornrows on each side of my head and huge blown out hair down the middle. Therefore creating a different variation on my signature "frohawk." But if anyone knows my mother, she has her own ideas and she was convinced my face is "too narrow" for that style. She also told me that my hair is getting too long for the frohawk. *Eye roll* ..I'm still going to be doing that style.
The pictures above show what "we" eventually settled with. I did blow out my hair but it was flopping all over the place on one side. So I took that hair and pinned it back. It created this fan looking thingy and I loved it!!! Accidental natural hairstyles are definitely gifts from the "hair fairy." Yes there's a hair fairy, I checked.
At any rate, I'm going to see Martin Lawrence in concert this weekend and I'm not sure what I want to do with my hair. Right now, I'm just thinking I might do my regular curly fro because I never seem to go wrong with that. Feel free to post some links to some styles you want to try especially if your hair isn't long enough yet!
